GBI helped a major manufacturer of PVC & vinyl windows reduce downtime and improve quality by introducing our DXL 5 Tear Resistant PTFE/Glass fabric. This customer had been using a standard 10 mil thick PTFE/Glass fabric as their platen cover. This necessitated a very high platen temperature, which resulted in seals with poor mechanical properties and very short life on the platen covers. Our DXL 5 Tear Resistant fabric was able to provide a 5-mil product with sufficient tensile and breaking strength that allowed them to significantly lower their operating temperature. The result was a significant improvement in the strength of their welds and a dramatic reduction in the amount of platen covers they consumed.
